PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Client: City of Newport, Department of Economic Development
Location: Newport, Kentucky
Size: 8 acres, +/- 1/2 mile
The Daniel Beard Trail is one of the only two official Boy Scout Trails in America. The trail connects Newport and Covington, Kentucky with Cincinnati, Ohio, along the Ohio River.
Newport’s portion of the Boy Scout Trail provided a unique interpretive landscape, highlighting its history. It included pedestrian bridges and overlooks, both of the river and downtown, on top of the flood levee.
Historic-interpretive exhibits, sitting areas, colorful monumental weathervanes, pennants, & unique wrought iron site furnishings were created for this project.
Prepared in collaboration with Firehouse Design, Kolar Design, KZF Inc. & Applied History Associates.
